Yes, you are hearing digital clip as your line level signal is off the charts! Try changing to mic level and let me know what happens.

When working outside under constant lighting conditions trying to get my light levels correct the raw level meter and raw clip meter rythmically go between low level and off the chart...

I do a lot of 120fps on a Red and have not seen this. Could be the 10 second pre record option turned on?
