I have this issue, they have asked me to send the side handle back. From Singapore, so this means at least 2 weeks with basically no camera.
It's in the right hand column under the color wheel/circle adjustments. Now it just says 'need license' and is greyed out.
I have a handle, and have that swap issue, and they have asked me to send it back to them, so your theory is possible.
In Monte's defense, I was stumped for a name for my camera and someone (unprompted) gave me a great suggestion including the logic behind it.
