Is the Nikon mount a "lock-down" style a la PL or is it conventional f-mount?
Great news! I know you're VERY busy right now, but could you tell us whether or not the mount is "lock-down" style or a more conventional f-mount? Thanks in advance.
Nick.
I won't highjack a thread where Red is announcing an incredible new product but things are not as simple as Jacek is portraying.
Our Optitek mount is currently away being serviced. The mount could not hold iris position and all lenses would shift in the mount when focused. Although we arranged rushed shipping and were...
This mount may be worth the wait. We've had problems with our "third-party" mount and the customer service has been less than satisfactory.
Some of the best shots I've seen on the Red and the edit is outstanding. Great work!
Nick.
Yeah, I mean why even go with PL mount and 35mm frame size... Seriously - it has proven effective for almost a century. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water here...
Please excuse my ignorance, but from what I understand, FCP currently does not support 4K files. If I am wrong, please excuse me. If I am not, then how does it interface with FCP?
Thanks,
Nick.
Thanks Jarred.

I'm not sure if I understand Jarrod's emoticons in the thread relating to Peter's recent experience with the Red Primes. Does anyone know whether they have built-in IR protection or not? We're...
Excuse my ignorance here, but I'm about to pick up a new set of ND's and an IR cut filter/hot mirror. In that we're also ordering a set of Red Primes, does that make the $ spent on the IR a waste of...
At the risk of sounding sarcastic, is the mere inclusion of the Zeiss name make the re-housing of still lenses at a cost of approx. $35K make these lenses desirable? I am well aware of the Zeiss...
I didn't mean to punch you Ivan, more of a tap on the shoulder... :)
By the way, I do feel guilty hounding these guys the Sunday before NAB, but I guess that's how much I want the lenses. :)
IVAN: NO THE QUESTION WASN'T ANSWERED.
As a Red owner, I have yet to receive an email from Brent. I'm assuming it's coming. That being said, Jarred said they would start taking orders on-line...
Hi Jarred: Is there a specific time/date when the site will up and ready to take orders or should we keep checking throughout the week? Thanks and keep up the great work.
Nick.
About that lens mount... what's the deal?

Peter has a great point. If the nature of information trickle in this thread epitomizes the manner in which this lens manufacturer plans on on operating, it puts into question far more than mere...
Thanks Matt. Is bearing noise cause for concern?

Crickets... mmm... okay, I get it. You've all got Ultra Primes back at the shop. No need for the lowly Nikon... The pathetic little still lens... What was I thinking! Okay, let's try it this way: ...
I recently brought our manual focus Nikon 35mm 1.4 in for service b/c it sounds like bearings are spinning around w/o much lubricant. The image it produces remain great, but I was concerned...
You may want to contact Stratton Camera - great people - if they don't have it, they will put in the right direction. As well, there's Detroit Power and Light. Hope this helps.
Nick.
SIM is great.

Did you get a chance to measure the degree of focus turn? (I'm sure there's a better name for this, but it escapes me).
Thanks,
Nick.
Unless I'm missing something, "value" as it relates to serial #'s is moot when one considers that the ability to secure an early Epic/Scarlet is based on original ownership. Am I wrong? If so, my...
