It's a database of lenses I've been building and maintaining for a while in which I've tried to include as much info on lens coverage as possible....
What did Angenieux do with their DP zooms? I've used regular Optimos (15-40 & 28-76) and DPs (16-42 & 30-80) on Epic 5KFF and found that none of them vignetted. None of these lenses would have been...
Mike,
In the early days of the Red One many DPs used blue filters (generally 80A, B or C) when shooting under tungsten light to balance the light to the camera (much as we use filters to correct...
I think it's a great idea to publish your list. It's really comprehensive, particularly in terms of Russian glass. I didn't know the existence of most of them, so I've learned a lot reading it!

Hi Michael
I just found your message. Sorry I didn't see it before.
I've literally just finished revising the database with loads more lenses from 16mm anamorphics to 65mm lenses. I spent a long...
That sounds great Erich. The most useful outcome from my point of view would be to have the information easily accessible on an iPhone / iPad. That could be an app or just a phone-friendly webpage....
Sounds great Michael. Email it over. rjdbradbury at gmail etc
Thanks Larry. I know the LOMO section is quite shaky - it's an area I don't really know anything about. I've used a few LOMO anamorphic lenses, but I've never even seen a LOMO spherical prime or...
For a long time I have wanted to compile a database of motion picture lenses as a reference guide in putting together camera lists. I've finally had some time to make a start, and with the help of...
For courses in London you could talk to Four Corners Film (www.fourcornersfilm.co.uk). I led a three-day Red workshop there recently, which was the camera part of a larger workshop that also covered...
Thanks for the reply, but that's not what I'm asking at all. I'm thinking specifically about the 'VIEW' setting in the camera menu (Video > View), and wondering whether the selection I make in the...
A very quick question:
Am I right in thinking that the selected setting in the 'VIEW' submenu on the camera (REDspace, REC709 or RAW) is NOT saved in the r3d file metadata?
Thanks in advance.
Graeme - When you say 'no exposure adjustment', what is the base uncorrected ISO? I know 320ISO is a commonly quoted figure, but in my tests the un-adjusted exposure of RAW view is between 200 and...
Amazing. Thanks
This is a fantastic app, and really useful to me on set for quick review of shots over the course of a number of days. My assistant is inputting scene/slate/take information into the comments field...
360ASA? Interesting that if you set the camera up at 360ASA / 5000K / REC709 / no matrix or other adjustment and then flick to view RAW, you appear to lower the exposure by about a stop. I'd love to...
So to re-create view RAW in RedCine (for testing or production reasons - there are others here who have asked for this) you would use REC709 gamma, at 160ASA, 5000K, no other adjustments?
I...
Just did a quick test and discovered that the following settings in RedCine give exactly the same histogram:
1. Linear (ie Color button switched off)
2. Gamma 1.0 / 320ASA / 5000K / everything...
My approach has been to set up a grey card and light, lens set at T4, until the card is covered with an in-camera zebra set at 44-47 IRE, using RAW view. Using several light meters and adjusting ASA...
Good to know. Thanks Stuart
If you monitor in Rec709 and then flick to Raw View using an assigned EVF button, when you switch Raw View off again you are switched to monitoring RedSpace. To get back to Rec709 you then have to go...
Quite right David. I did the calculations having worked out the actual sensor size for each format, rather then the somewhat simpler method you suggested, and I was slightly out!:poster_oops:

I did the homework on this recently and came up with a conversion table for both field of view and depth of field matching between 4K, 3K and 2K. It's set up to go in the lid of a box of superspeeds....
A company called Camera Bellows here in the UK have started making a very good hood for the LCD after prototyping one for us. www.camerabellows.com
