Does this apply only to people in film/RTF type programs, or any students in any program? I only ask because I know lots of kids from my school days that were doing work in non-film related majors to...

As much as I loved the more "renegade" RED of 2005-2009, the more "mature" 2010-Present ultimately is what is needed as RED has become a major factor in the largest productions in the business....
Basically turning cinema into Disney theme park attractions. No thanks. Those are FANTASTIC for the 5-10 minutes at the park, not for a feature.
When might we see returned Scarlet-Xs in the BT store?
Pretty hard to imagine there isn't some link between this product and Tessive's announcement...
I notice Jarred edited it from "Scarlet, Epic, and Dragon cameras" to. Probably realized us RU dorks would spend 1800 replies parsing that sentence to figure out if Dragon was now an entirely new...
Jim is a big boy and wildly successful in two very different industries to a degree that few in the world can or will ever claim. I think he can handle somebody pointing out that he may have worded...
But that isn't what was said, and the line that follows it doesn't help. Like I said, it is probably poorly worded on Jim's part and gives off an impression he probably didn't intend.
This seems poorly worded. Surely you don't mean that a film worked on by 1000s of talented and hard working people over several years was successful due simply to the camera it was shot on?
It's actually pretty rad if you can ignore the whiners. Fun to read stories of those brave souls who said "I'm in" and went with it. I was one of the many people who came so close to pulling the...
If I didn't already own his catalog, I would be watching them right now :p
Probably not many of the former, given the comparatively tiny number of films released as 4K DCPs (Blair's 30 is about right).
Not true. I'm in the theater business (own my own five screen) and I know tons of theaters that opted from 2k servers as opposed to IMBs. Most 4K projectors in cinemas are showing 2K content from 2K...
Patents are a tricky thing. They are meant to spur on innovation, but they often have the opposite affect. Here is hoping the outcome in this case is innovation.
My buddy Matt and his crew are about to wrap up the most successful Kickstarter film/video campaign ever (search VGHS on Kickstarter), with nearly 10,000 backers and 750k in pledges. What is amazing...
This is really getting worrisome. In addition to Red folks here ignoring questions about ODEMAX at Sundance, I've tweeted at Offhollywood on Twitter (Mark is at Sundance) asking him about it. No...
I'm dying for Crimson news.
The public debt isn't as nearly the pressing issue as folks make it out to be. Short term, we would do better to implement policy to improve our employment situation rather than our debt/deficit...
Be prepared to lose 10% of your expected payout in declined credit cards.
Red said something to the effect of "Of course we won't offer an upgrade if it costs more than simply buying a new brain."
Which is turns out it does, and so there won't be an upgrade. Instead...
Will we get new info on the projectors at the Sundance conference, or will that be solely for ODEMAX info?

The Hobbit will do 300 million in the U.S. and around a billion worldwide on the back of a much stronger foreign box office in the last 5 years. Calm...
I do want to point out that even in Martin's answer to me (the first half of which is fine, and all that needs to be said), he points out essentially my issue with the strange moderation of this...
Paul, most distribs have a clause requiring exclusivity on the assigned screen of the picture for the first couple of weeks. After that, you can get more creative.
On tickets sold: There is no way for ODEMAX to know that other than by what the theater reports. Jon mentioned that it hooks in to industry standard POS systems (RTS, NCM, etc.), but those numbers...
