When air travelling with my Red I have been well served by keeping a Pelican 1510 with cut out foam insert and the following contents:
Red Body
ET/Arri Baseplate
Top Mounts
Small Top Rods
all built together.
And in a small compartment next to it:
RED EVF

There is very little there to mess with and you can keep it as a carry-on item. On most shoots we also pack lenses as a seperate carry-on.
