To be fair, there is NO price increase on the original scarlett. at NAB it was announced scarlett would cost 3k no mention was made that it would work out of the box with no purchase of accessories. Red usually gives prices for the body then as it is a modular system you kit it up to your needs.

$3750 for a camera that will do what it says it can will make a huge imapact on the market the HVX-200 (great little camera) is around $4500 and that only shoots HD (with pixel shifting!!) up to 60 fps.
