I know this has been discussed before, but I would like to get from you, after some months of experience, which bag serves better to take the Red One with you as a carry-on luggage?

Also, what has been your experience with the TSA agents when you put the camera through the X-Ray machine? Do you need to turn it on for them? If so, then power and LCD is needed to be taken with you, right?

A savvy, real-life advise will be greatly appreciated.:help:

I'm sorry I don't have the actual experience yet, but based on your logic (which is accurate) I would think (insert the case you prefer) that holds the body and a battery with cables should be enough. LCD only works in this case if you packed a lens as well.
Speaking of which - I have seen some of us nuts here with pics of the RED in their cases with the lens attached. I hope that idea is only be used "on the day" and not always, everyday, even in storage!

i use a tamarac ( a.k.a. "Gibby" as in Steve Gibby ) cyberpack8 backpack ...
have only gone thru 2 airports - after the X-ray - both did hand inspections ...
neither asked to turn it on ...
both time's i did not travel with batts ... they were shipped ahead ...

I have been taking my Photography equipment through airport security for years in a Pelican 1510, which is airline overhead complaint. I've only been asked once to open my case so they can examine the internals. I also pair that with a lowepro backpack bag filled with other equipment, which they have never asked about.

I've turned on my camera once, and the guy was a little particular about the operations of the camera. Asking me to scroll the menu and trip the shutter. But again, only once, and I fly about once a month with my gear.

I'd suggest having everything you need to power on your Red, and before you travel always check the current allowed items on the TSA/carrier site. They change quite frequently and they can get picky about things.

When I finally am able to order my Red, its gonna get a Pelican 1510 for travel.

Yes, because airport navigation isn't already a pain in the ass...

Anyway, here's another vote for the Tamrac Cyberpak 8. Very versatile, great pack, works as a carry-on and fits into the overhead compartment on every airline I've tried. Not that many so far, but has worked for me on Delta, Frontier, Southwest and United. It's a very comfortable pack, even when overloaded.
