Disconnecting LCD or EVF?

I'm on set again with the EVF+LCD+HDSDI out of my Red and after Stuart yesterday explaining that to get frame guides on the HDSDI you have to disconnect either the LCD or EVF we have been doing that occasionally.

As such, is there a "best way" to disconnect a live LCD or EVF, or is it okay to simply remove the cable and then plug it back in? We have been doing that and things seem okay.

don't know the exact red rules but i unplug the cables ..
on EVF i turn it off 1st then unplug ... on LCD i hit the button that throws signal to the PVW out or make EVF active 1st then unplug ... ( note: using firmware 13 here )
