We shot on RED at 24fps. Exported QT from REDCINE scaled to pal with burned source TC, in order to edit offline in AVID.
Tried various options with METACHEATER and could not get the TC to sync in AVID with no repeated frames.
using METACHEATER we tried to create an ALE that matches in and out RED source TC's. This resulted in repeated frames in AVID.
Using the AVID TC sd adjust function in METACHETER, turned to pal, ( we live in pal land) it resulted with no repeated frames in AVID but a mismatch between the AVID source TC to the burned-in RED source TC.
While using the last option enables offline editing in sync, we fear that because of the mismatch of the TC's, reconnecting to the online media (scaled 2k uncompressed QT in FCP) will not be as smooth as we wish and will require some extra editing.

We feel that it is our lack of understanding of the complexity of this process that is holding us back. Can someone please shed some light for us.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

I am working with Jabez on this issue. For now, highlight the entire START column and do a command-D or control-D depending on operating system. From the pop-up dialog box select TC 24. In the next dialog box, choose "copy". When displaying the timecode, it should now count frame per frame with rollover at :23. When making EDL's use TC 24 as your source.

    Thanks Michael.

Your solution almost worked for us. After about 10 sec of no repeated frame we spotted the first one.

    Our solution is:
In METACHEATER create the ALE while the settings are at 1080, 24.
open an 1080p 24 project in avid, import the ALE, change project to pal 24, batch import the QT.

    It works for us.

By the way the Metacheater ALE includes sound by default, it would be nice to be able to remove the audio tracks in METACHEATER and not to have to do it before the batch import in AVID.

hmmm... I need to look into the repeated frame count, since that column should never repeat, it is a true 24fps count. As far as MetaCheater audio tracks, I need to send that request to Jabez.

I've just uploaded a new version (v1.3) which I think has fixed this. I think I was miscalculating the adjusted End TC by one frame. Try the new version and let me know if its fixed.
