Someone said they think the Scarlet camera will just be an add-on to the Red One...not necessarily a camera of its own.
How do you interpret Jim Jannard's remarks about the Scarlet?

"Scarlet. Our Pocket Professional camera." Not an add-on.![]()
LOL
I guess.
I'm invited to a big SONY post NAB event. I think I'll show up with my good ole' 930 and just be silent :)
Gunleik
(probably a scarlet orderer)
It's actually an appetizer: "Pocket Professional Calamari." The whole 'camera' thing was just a typo.
It might be one of those new tiny cars that are going to save the environment! Oh yeah! Like the TATA NANO! But smaller.
It was a typo. It should have read:
Pocket Professional Camry
RED is in league with Toyota. A plug-in car that folds up and fits in your pocket. No more wasting gasoline looking for a parking spot.
I think (and so does everyone else so far) that is it pretty clear it is going to be a camera on its own. However some people may still see it as an "add-on" to RED ONE - read B-CAM, Crash-CAM, Underwater-CAM, etc...
The question really is:
Is RED going to upset RED ONE buyers?
And is Jim and his team ready for Scarlet success?

Just a thought...
From what has been hinted as to who might be worried I think it will be something like this:
The equivalent of a 6 megapixel still camera but one that can shoot up to at least 30 fps, store on CF cards, and has a 2/3" sensor that makes it compatible with most existing 2/3" lenses, both conventional ENG zooms and Digi-Prime types.
It most likely will be able to deliver standard 1920 x 1080 HD as well as 2K and so fit comfortably into the market currently dominated by 3-CCD models, but for a much lower price, say around $5-6K.
I predict "pocket" may be a stretch, unless the lens and battery are removed:umm: Or the RED team turn up in shirts with oversized pockets, as Sony reputedly did with their first "pocket" radio 50-odd years ago:bleh:
I just read a piece in the N.Y. Times website about the Casio Exilim EX-F1. Pretty amazing.
