  1. #1 Split-frame Corruption - help?
    Hello,

Just loaded up the RED QT codec, REDAlert and REDCine on a new Mac Pro 3.2 with the Nvidia 8800 card... R3D files come up fine in REDCine, but in the QT proxies and REDAlert the bottom half of the frame is a bright green/pink wavelet mess. It reminds me of a wavelet-version of DV tape dropouts...

The clips look fine in REDCine.

Any thoughts? The latest of everything software wise... tried reboots, reinstalls, etc.

This is a known issue with 4k 16:9 footage, the quicktime plug-in is not able to handle it. As you have noticed the RAW footage is okay.

Better to shoot in 2:1 mode for now and crop in post, makes handeling the files much easier.

So what's the workflow workaround? Pumping everything out of redcine?

Ah! Hah... I knew about the 16:9 issue. I just grabbed a few random clips off one of a stack of 5 red drives, not even realizing it was 16:9.

    /mind back at ease.

Take a look at crimson if you need an answer now. Just had something go that route, without crimson I would have wanted to shoot myself in the head...oh wait i still do.
