    Okay,
So I was having an issue with using RedCine to convert 4k 2:1 to Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ). On initial installation of Redcine I could get through about 50-60% of the shots that I put in to be exported about halfway through one of the clips would stop on a freeze frame and all the shots following would stay on that freeze frame. Brought this issue up with red and the said they would work on it. And all simple questions were answered, like different frame rates-no, everything that people seem to be having trouble on here with we did the rundown and couldn't find an answer. But at least it was rendering the shots on a different day that got freeze framed earlier in the week, so it was just this wierd quirk where it liked to stop doing rendering at about 50%.
Then I was suggested to do the whole trash your redcine file in your library, restart, repair permissions and the reinstall. Which I did. Which lead to not being able to render out a single shot now!! All shots come out freeze framed and go through the rendering process about 300 times faster then normal, so i know something's fishy. So now I am stuck without being able to get any shots out of redcine... AHHHHH.... So any help to this virgin to redcine and the workflow would be helpful. Thanks for reading and helping.

    Specs-
    Quad Core Dual 2.8ghz
    2gb ram
    3.5 tb Space
    OSX 10.5.2
    Quicktime 7.4.1
    FCP 6.0.2

    Thanks

It's happening the same to me... I'm my case I have tried in two Macbooks and two Macpros... and seems to be alittle bit random.. while on the Laptops always occurs on one Macpro (prior to JAN08) with 10.4.11 it's working fine, always. On my other Macpro (post jan08) worked for a week.. but suddenly stopped worked and now I'm having the same issue.

The more fun is when I open a project done last week when it was working.. these shots still render ok!!! but any shoot added now to this project, just render the first frame.

I'm my case is not happening only in ProRes.. I have tried also uncompressed and DVCPRO HD, and also Animation (where results are much worse)

On top of that.. If I render with RedCine.. some weird purple pixels are appearing on some parts of my shots... If I manually render with redalert, shots are rendered okay...

so doing the reinstall process with reparing permissions and trashing the redcine library, helps my problem, but it still freezes on clips at about 50% through a batch render.. I do have to do a reinstall a lot for it to work..

This is happening to me too! Is it the ProRes codec? This is REALLY frustrating.

    Yep - same here.
I started another thread re the color artifacts - didn't see the posts here.

For me Redcine is by the biggest issue with working with my Red.
It worries me a lot and I wish Jim could throw everything at it - throw some money at it, please, so that the post phase of every job doesn't become one big apology session, which is what it is for me at the moment.
I get through a few files, go to bed, wake up, find half the quicktimes are no good, trash them, start again from the last good one, walk away, come back few hours later, find the same results...
Been trying to transcode 400 shots for almost two weeks, now.
Short of buying a half a dozen machines and spitting the workflow like that, I can't see a solution right now.
Even with that number of machines, transcoding will take several attempts.

Never any decent response from anyone at Red or Assimilate about this.
My first- gen Macbook Pro with an ATI card seems to be a bit more reliable.
my shiny new Macbook Pro that I bought for Redcine is sitting collecting dust.
Is Redcine more reliable on Windows? That's my next attempt.
Come on Red let's get some reliable Firmware on the camera and decent transcoding software. I know upgrading the camera product line is important, and I am sick of posting negative posts on the forum. But I feel that I have no choice because I want to be able to use the equipment that I have invested in, reliably.
I want a professional level product from the coding department for those of us out actually using the cameras in the real world.
Please at least respond significantly on this forum to this issue, please, folks.

I found to have the same issue when I had a lot of shots on the timeline. I did go away when I loaded fewer shots.

Would you mind sharing just how many shots you are getting away with? Thanks.
