Actually you can get the cable as a standard Preston part for the Microforce. It works just fine for the older V+F and the newer V+F2, but some units (of both) may need to get an update from Preston to work properly with the RED. Can't recall what the fix was or the charge or even if there was a charge, but it is nominal at best. We ran through all of Abel Rental's Microforce units and only discovered a couple that had the problem. Preston upgraded them for us and now they run just fine. By using the Lemo4 on the correct port you can get power to the Microforce & motor as well as start/stop the recording of the camera from the Microforce.

We have these cables for sale and don't let anyone tell you they don't work. The cable is fine. The RED One is fine. If it doesn't work with your Microforce then that unit may need an upgrade.

Only caveat is that I have yet to test this with the new V+F3 Microforce with the digital readouts, but I'd guess that they'd work fine as well.

Yes that is correct. We use a PTAP to 4-pin -

I was wondering if pins 2 and 3 are used any longer on 4 pin XLR power wires, I read that in the "old days" they were used for pilot tone sometimes,

    Pin 1 = Ground
    Pin 2 = ?
    Pin 3 = ?
    Pin 4 = +12v ~5A
