One thing that did change though, is the 5K FF fps specs:
Originally announced to reach 48fps @ 5:1 it's now announced to be 30fps @ ?:1.
So that could mean that max fps changed but we still don't know. :)

Original Scarlet Dragon spec:
1-48 fps 5K FF at 5:1 compression
Max fps (2.4:1):
1-60 fps 5K
1-75 fps 4K
1-100 fps 3K
1-150 fps 2K
What can be compared is 5K FF Original/New - 48/30 fps - 37,5% decrease in capability
So don't expect miracles in high speed for WS formats.
Crude interpolation of original specs give:
Max fps (2.4:1) Original / New:
1-60 fps 5K - 37,5 fps
1-75 fps 4K - 46,9 fps
1-100 fps 3K - 62,5 fps
1-150 fps 2K - 93,7 fps
Hmm it seems Jarred was more generous than me :-)
Personally I would say disappointing decrease of originally claimed capability.
I can see that this 48 fps is haunting us European customers like a medieval curse. Really 50 fps couldn't be squeezed out of the system?
I must say I liked so much much much much much more the previous market segmentation between Scarlet 5K and EPIC 6K Dragon.
But I understand that this new segmentation is much more tailored for RED business then for end users - well if its gotta be, its gotta be.
Relax all.. WS vs FF. Will clear up when I land.
2015 can't get here soon enough
Spec from http://www.red.com/store/products/sc...ragon-upgrade:
That's FF vs FF, plus the comment from Brent...:
That equals one huge confusion at the moment.
Can't wait for the clarification...

Guys. Will you please listen and relax until we have all the data?
I mentioned it before: the specs Jarred announced are for FF the older high speed fps were for 2.4:1 WS.
So we just don't know all the details yet. No need to get upset before you know what's going on!
EDIT: I know about the 48 vs. 30 FF fps change at 5K (see above). But still we don't know the whole story yet.
I predicted this price point.
If new Scarlet Dragon could make 50fps in 5K WS or 4K HD for UHD delivery in continuous and even more in burst mode, than will use it for wildlife documentary work, if not and not having money for epic right now, will have to start looking for alternatives...
