  1. #1 RED-EPIC Unboxed----am i missing something??
We just got our RED Epic and I curious about something. This is what we ordered http://www.red.com/store/products/epic-x-pro-bundle

Am I missing something or does this kit NOT come with any sort of shoulder mount?? I got the DSMC FRONT HANDLE ASSEMBLY 19mm and the rails....but there doesn't seem to be anything to ride over your shoulder. I can't imagine I am supposed to set this thing on my shoulder as is. We have an older Element Technica Mantis that we can use, but I figure after spending $48K, you would get something that was functional.

Please let me know your thoughts. I must be overlooking something.

    Thanks,

    JEFF

Look into the COLLECTION tab in that link to see everything that is included in the package - and no, there is no shoulder pad included.
You need to order this separately here...:

    or this:

It doesn't look like the bundle has any shoulder mount solution. Not sure why the handles are included though.

It's not like they didn't list all the included parts before you ordered. And a quick glance at the pics easily shows there is not an included shoulder pad.

People configure cameras a million and one ways. Some have other rigs they are adapting and may already have a shoulder mount. Your unhappiness could easily have been avoided if you had read what you were buying for more than $45K.

What Terry said. Why would you not study in detail what is included in such a large order? Or at the very least consult with someone experienced - or even as a last resort - ask here on RU...

    Hi Jeffrey

While Terry and Peter are correct that the listing does not include the shoulder pad - I agree it is a very curious setup to offer handles and no pad.

They should call that collection the EPIC-X MYSTERIUM-X PRO COLLECTION MINUS THE SHOULDER PAD or

the EPIC-X MYSTERIUM-X PRO COLLECTION OPPS WE DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ONE or

the EPIC-X MYSTERIUM-X PRO COLLECTION NOW SPEND ANOTHER $600 TO GET SOMETHING WE SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED IN THE FIRST PLACE

    Grrrr.....not happy.

You cant be serious in blaming RED, for something you hoped/assumed was included without first checking. Are you!?!

    Hey Guys....

I hear what you are saying. This is our third RED, so I am not here to bash them persay. It is disappointing to spend that much $$ and not get a key component included. Yup....everyone sets up their cameras differently. But why include handles and rails?? I made an assumption based on the image in the RED store. We all know what they say about assuming.....it makes an ass out of u and me. At the end of the day it is on me for making an assumption.

When looking to purchase an Epic, I visited the store and did a little window shopping. I first stumbled upon the EPIC-X MYSTERIUM-X GUNNER COLLECTION. In looking at the picture you clearly see a shoulder pad attached. Good looking camera package, but not exactly what we wanted so I moved on.

With the GUNNER COLLECTION still in the back of my head, I moved on to checking out the EPIC-X MYSTERIUM-X PRO COLLECTION. "Ah Ha! That's more like it" I said to myself. It looks like it has everything we need. In this picture you can see the handles and rails but the area where the shoulder pad should be is not clearly visible as it is blocked by the batteries. Again...in the back of my head I am thinking this package has EVERYTHING that the GUNNER does plus all the additional goodies. It was a total assumption on my part.

I think it is stupid not to include the shoulder pad when you include the handles and rails. But at the end of the day it is my fault my assuming something that would make simple sense.

what's missing here - and across the entire shop - is only the most massively useful thing ever...
