I would be curious about the pricing on the egg crate. The barn doors seem a little pricey for what they are but might still be the better option.

Chris - I went ahead and ordered with the barn doors. I have confidence in this product because of your recommendation; you haven't steered me wrong yet! Are these ready to ship right away?

Haha! Thanks Terry! You won't be disappointed...and yes, they are ready to ship. So as soon as you order (which you have)...they should be processed immediately. Your order isn't contingent on other redusers either. It's a one-of-a-kind group buy

Chris, did Eden Park mention if they're still coming out with ring light version mentioned at 2:11 mark of this video?

No mention of that...so I'm guessing no.

I don't know the light output of a standard Litepanel, but these lights have a stated 3000 lumens output, which puts them in the 'short throw' category (as is mentioned in their brochure).

    For example -

    55W Fluorescent = 3000 lumens
    75W Kinoflow Fluoro = 3200 lumens
    650W Tungsten = 16000 lumens
    575 W HMI = 49000 lumens

So that's about 25fc/275lux at 7ft, or requiring about an f/4 @ 800ISO 24fps 1/48th. Just had a look at that using a single 55w flouro in a 4-bank unit and that level of light really isn't that bad. So yeah, seems to me these lights should be fine for tighter scenes where you don't need to keep the lights twice as far away, and if you don't mind opening up your lenses a bit.

Of course, they're permanently soft too, but that's as much a feature as a flaw right? Am definitely tempted to check these things out myself.
