OK, so maybe it's news to me but a German company (www.handsfree-transporter.com) has a device that was being demonstrated that is basically a Segway scooter with a pole attached for a Steadicam to mount upon. For steering, there is a stick that goes up to knee level the operator straddles and allows for steering. It was amazingly smooth and fun to watch the camera operator zoom forward, backward, zero turn with the Steadicam solidly mounted so he didn't have to bear the weight. Cost is around $20,000.00. Get one today!
