Mark - what a great idea. I'm an iPhone user but it might be better to have a dedicated device.

yup sounds a good plan to me too, not sure you'd want too many tweets or other notifications to pop up while controlling the camera :-)

I'm trying to wrap my head around this: how is this different that redmote? Redmote also does not require the Redlink camera termination.

Graphical interface, for one. With, at least eventually, a lot more granular control of some parameters, I think. And, although my REDmote has performed very well for me, some folks have had "issues" with connectivity on REDmotes.

Plus you can directly access stuff like reassign key functions, all the menu controls etc. and even preview afaik
    Something witty this way comes.

Jacek, the REDLINK termination is on the dev kit module, not meant as a on-set product (even tho it works for early adopters, the crazy one who wants to test beta firmware and live on the edge, or control their camera while on a MOVI rig)... I'm sure some other REDLINK modules in other form factor will come in due time.

Now for the rest of your question... not sure you can control FIZ with a REDmote nor enter any metadata information (Scene, Take...) like you can with foolcontrol or other upcoming tools that will use the REDLink protocol.
What about for example applying a color correction when choosing a certain lens profile, shaping a curve etc ?

(and try not to break your neck while wrapping your head around a simple iPhone app)

The "REDLINK termination" is also not a problem for some of us. I have a quad battery module which provides plenty of power all day and allows me to place the REDLINK at the end.

Yes you can control focus and aperture with Redmote.
I'll try to keep my neck safe- thank you ;)

Yep you're right, one could assign focus far / near and iris open / close to some REDmote buttons, but would not take the risk to try to pull focus with this tho :-)
Metadata and curves are afaik not possible to set remotely, and even thru the touch screen UI they are either difficult to set (curve point values) or too deep in the menu (one could create a shortcut for it but I know very few people who regularly use it to embed scene/take info in the R3Ds)
