  1. #1 RED Drive RAID vs FireStore
I'm an HVX200 user and I shoot to the firestore. Doc style stuff running and gunning all day. I've got a Zacuto setup with the firestore on a noga arm. I've never had a dropped frame or a problem with the drive. Can anyone confirm if the RED Drive is as durable? Should I be worried shooting handheld for an entire day with the RAID drive?

    Thanks,
    Howie

I believe the official word is 'no not really' to handheld.

The RED RAID drive is a raw SATA drive with no shock buffering or anything. It is not suited to any high-impact work (which can include much handheld shooting).

I would say that you are truly blessed that you've never had a dropped frame with your firestore. I had nothing but problems with it and my JVC 100U even in a tripod.

I've heard many Firestore horror stories too.
