all QUICKTIME 7.4.6 .apps (FCP, MOTION) fail processing R3D with "REDCODE.QT PLUG-IN"

HI Guys, I have some R3D material to deal with.
Simply, all the QT based .apps I use in FCS 2 fail when accessing the any of the P, T, F files form the RE magazine with a QUICKTIME error that says "THe xxx application unexpectedly quit. THe problem may have been caused by the REDCODE.QT PLUG-IN".

my s/w:
10.5.2
QT 7.4.6

The only workaround seems to be to use REDALERT and 'render' export to PRORESHQ. Takes a while. and use PRORESS inside of FCP etc.

Any ideas?

QuickTime 7.4.6 doesn't exist. QT 7.4.5 however, does.

Quicktime 7.4.5 works just fine here (other than slightly stuttered proxy playback in QT player). I would suggest a re-install of FCS2, the QT component and QT. Not necessarily in that order.
