  1. #1 FCP Batch import?
    Hi there,

Just cut a project that was shot 2K 16:9. I cut using the 1024x576 proxies. Production doesn't want to buy Crimson so just wondered if there was any way to batch import the full res 2k proxies and export with those for grade. Is this even worth doing?

I'm on FCP 6.0.2, QT 7.3.1, Leopard 10.5.2 on 8 core Mac Pro

    Cheers,

    Ollie

Here's the thing. You can do what you need manually, but it will take a little bit of time, and if you've got long takes it will be much slower. Just edit with the proxies. The note what "clips" you used, grade them in RedCine and then output them to prores or whatever. In Final Cut go back and manually reconnect the proxies to the new final clips.

    Does that make sense?

    Wow, that's some cheap producers!

What Matthew suggests will work just fine.... Happy cutting!...

Oh I see, quite time consuming. Spending $189 seems a bit more of a good idea!
I just had a notion in my head that FCP would easily be able to relink from the H proxies to the F proxies. Simple in Avid.

You can do that, but why would you do that?

You want a full debayer upon finishing, don't you?

That would be good yes. So I suppose the proxies are always reffing the R3ds? So that would mean exporting out from the H ones would be no worse than exporting out from a 2K timeline with the Fs?

The F's are scaled up from the H's? What's the idea behind that? What purpose could it have?
