  1.   This is the last RED TEAM post in this thread.   #1 Tonaci's HypeVR
Most of you around here know Tonaci, For those of you that don't you probably will read alot about his new company in the next few days.. He is doing some pretty badass things in the VR world with his HyperVR rigs.

    Press Release:

HypeVR, a live action VR technology company, incorporates LiDAR technology to push live action Virtual Reality to the next level. Imagine being able to lean into a scene with full six degrees of freedom within a full 360 degree live action stereoscopic VR scene. This is made possible with a proprietary patent pending method which incorporates a fusion of HypeVR’s “Hyper Stitch” algorithm with the 3d mapping data from multi-channel LiDAR to create a 360 degree ultra high resolution 3d model for six degree live action VR.

HypeVR’s flagship virtual reality rig consists of 14 Red Dragon cameras and Velodyne’s HDL-32E, which provides the ability to simultaneously capture a motion image of 84k at up to 90fps and a 360 degree point cloud at 700,000 points per second. For cinematic VR, this ultra high resolution capture allows HypeVR to work with the highest quality digital image possible and HypeVR’s integration of LiDAR enables a massive 3d model capture of the live action scene. Velodyne's real-time LiDAR can record depth data at a range of 100 meters with incredible accuracy which allows for HypeVR’s VR capture system to work in any environment. Furthermore, since the HDL-32E is class 1 laser eye safe, it can be used in any setting with no danger of causing any potential eye damage to the subjects being filmed. While most VR rigs work best when in a fixed spot due to stitching challenges, HypeVR’s LiDAR integration allows for movement of the rig itself due to stitching being executed in 3d space. HypeVR’s patent pending capture method is also camera agnostic so smaller shooting systems are currently being developed.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when we got 6 degree VR working for the first time,” said Tonaci Tran, HypeVR co-founder. “The extra dimension of being able to lean into a live action scene, really takes VR to the next level. In order to achieve these amazing results, we needed a robust solution to record 3d depth information. By combining our proprietary algorithm and multi-channel, real-time LiDAR technology, we are able to generate ultra high resolution dense 3d depth information at any distance which allows our 3d capture system to perform well in any environment. Although we are currently working with an ultra high end and robust VR 3d capture solution, we are also working on more compact and affordable systems so that other VR filmmaker’s can begin creating amazing 6 degree live action VR content.“

Wow! HyperVR... that makes me dizzy just looking at it.
