A question for those who already have an evf.
Is it significantly better for nailing focus than using just the lcd ?

Good question as I have not seen one in person yet.
quick review:
both the evf and lcd have their own sets of artifacts (lcd has a fair amount of banding and evf has crazy "colorwheel" flickering) but both are fairly easy to get used to. nailing focus can be done on either easily although i'm always a little more confident that i've nailed it with the evf. evf is heavy and a little clumsy. it's very easy to push unwanted buttons on the evf - hopefully red will allow full mapping and ability to turn off all buttons soon. lcd is amazingly light and has a decent viewing angle but is not suitable for viewing under direct sunlight without a hood or some shading.
hope this answers more questions than it raises.
Best colour viewfinder yet for resolution and colour fidelity.

the evf is badass. focuses easier than the lcd and plus it makes your camera look better :)
I had not intended to buy the EVF but after seeing it at NAB I ordered it instead of the LCD. It is much better than anything I have used in the past 25 years.
I just hope it ships soon. I will be tethered to a 17" monitor until it does.
I agree with Frank. I was on the fence about the EVF but after seeing it and the new LCD at NAB, I ordered both. Stunning is the right word for it and while it is large and capable of being used for self-defense, it was smaller than I was anticipating, which is a good thing.
Great tool, the best evf I ever used, hopefully the diopter correction could be locked in the near future (or did I missed something?)
My EVF is supposed to arrive today so I'll post a review after I get it
