Well, during my configuration of my new 8-core, the option of a:

Quad-channel 4GB fibre channel card, appeared...

Is this a new one, just imagine:

One 8-core mac, and two raids... 4 cables from my mac to these raids...

28 discs.... yep, 4K editing uncompressed NO PROBLEM!

    NOT?

Just remember that once you hit 50% full you'll be looking at a 25% decrease in performance, and at 72 GB/min onlining a feature is going to get rather tough. I actually specced out a machine for online 4k and its going to take probably 6 4gb ports.

Is this not where I should chime in and say:

Yes, but if we edit in redcode? -;)
(which of course very few have done thus far...

I would really leave that apple.com shopping cart until after NAB at least. What graphics card best supports the new FCP or RedCine? We Don't know! How many cores will FCP and RedCine take advantage of? We Don't know! How much memory will new new FCP and RedCine take advantage of? We don't know!

Mathimatically speaking, I would say "We Don't know! ^3 = Wait!"

at some point that's going to need to be converted for color grading and output. either to a film recorder or dci pack, or an hd tape format.
