A few days ago I did some speed tests on the REDMAG reader with USB 3 and the transfer speeds were quite fast. Today we're on set and it's super slow. Right now 103 GB is taking 1 hour to transfer. I'm getting around 28MB per second.

My laptop has USB 3 and I'm transferring to a MaxDigital Thunderraid with Thunderbolt 2.

Has anyone else had this issues? Thanks for any advice.

Do you have anything else daisy chained on the TB or sharing a USB3 hub?

Otherwise try reboot with everything already connected.

Sounds like you're hitting USB2 speeds for some reason. Cable?

No, there's nothing daisy chained on the TB or shared on the USB3 hub. And we've rebooted a few times. Still no change.

Yeah, it does seem like USB2 speeds. We bought a new cable and it's the same issue.

Is the Redmag Reader connected to a hub or directly to the computer?

Try other USB ports on your laptop.

I recently noticed the same issue on both my MBP and Windows X99 workstation using USB3!

Try skipping the hub. Curiosity in me also wonders if there's any alternate drivers involved (e.g. UASP).

Could be a power issue. If the reader isn't getting enough juice, it could lower the speed. If your USB hub is un-powered, then that's a likely reason. For a test, unplug everything except the ThunderRaid and the Reader. Or, use the power input on the reader to make sure it's getting enough power.
