Hey all - So I was given a budget to upgrade from our current FS700 + 7Q system. Getting into the RED ecosystem I wanted to make sure we covered all our bases. We shoot mostly automotive related product video & some run and gun track/show events & studio / on location work as well for a wide variety of brands. The FS has been great.. uncompressed RAW storage size not so much and the SONY "look" is becoming tiring.

With all this being said when RAVEN was announced I decided to hop on the pre-order train. Im still very happy with the decision but I was told that the allocated funds needed to spent earlier than end of year. It is feasible to go the used Dragon route but my question is does anyone provide RED specific financing on used products? I've seen some.. but they didn't seem all to legitimate. I know SoCal is the way to go for new but I was curious on the used front.

If you have any insight on this, that would be great!

An equipment loan from any regular bank will cover used gear investments.

I went through this a few years back. I found the film equipment financing companies and banks weren't that appealing. High rates. If you own your house / apt you might look at your home equity line of credit.

Used is tough places usually finance new gear like Abel does. Maybe just buy accessories available now with your current budget and get raven next year? I use zero interest credit card promotions, some which give you cash is another route? In March Abel would t loan me enough so used cards to bridge the gap. One thing is certain things mess up your credit like what I did I dropped a lot but rebounded since. The high interest on retailer loans isn't so bad in that your credit stays in tact and you can buy your way out early from the finance deals too . Hope this helped

Southern California Leasing if you want to go that route. They do all the financing for RED and are easy to work with. Payments vs APR on a personal loan likely won't be great though.
