    Hey Steve,

Here's an easy one (I assume). The quick real time grading thing is all good, very self explanatory.

But if I want to play back at different speeds from within RED Alert! . . . standard speed, twice speed for example??

That's a tough one for Steve.

Jay, RA is not the correct application for the feature you are asking for.

Suggest you enroll in the Red course at FXPHD to understand Red workflow.

    Hey Lim,

No course needed, thanks ; )

Just making sure there's "still" no easy way for normal playback within RED Alert! Sounds like there still isn't. Oh well.

    Thanks,
    -Jay

Jay, not yet. My system is not the fastest out there, so not sure if there are big improvements with newer systems and really fast hard drives, but I get about half speed playback.

Although, the FXPHD courses are well worth it, I think Jay has had the Reds for a while if I'm not mistaken.

To me, the best way to use Red Alert these days is through the combination of Clipfinder and Red Alert. In fact, in the new version of Clipfinder, you could argue you may not need to rely on Red Alert as much as a lot of the controls are now built into Clipfinder. But I still find myself bouncing back and forth out of habit. Very easy to do - Command R.

That way you can playback at whatever resolution you want and then when you want to make some corrections, open up Red Alert.

I'd like to second this: Clipfinder is quickly developing into the "missing link" for RED footage preparation on the Mac.

My Red is called Vertov after a Russian avantgarde filmmaker, a pioneer in modern cinematography, a true revolutionary who later suffered under Stalin's bureaucracy.

So there's no way to lessen the playback quality in RED Alert so that realtime playback can occur like in REDCine? I'm on Build 20 and stuck with REDAlert workflow for a while... not too familiar with it. Was wondering if realtime playback in REDAlert is possible at a reduced quality setting such as Half Res.
