Feel free to post a link if this has already been brought up, but how viable would it be to just buy these 3 zooms as my kit?

    THANKS!

Those are all fine lenses. They'd make a god kit if you don't mind some breathing.

PM me if you're looking to buy the 17-35mm. I bought it in anticipation of the RED Nikon mount, but decided to stick with my Canons once the Birger mount was announced. It's been taken out of the case once, still have the box it came in.

    Hi Brandon,

These were the exact lenses I purchased last week. So, far I am impressed. We also included the 80-400 VR.

Phil, if you can find the time, it would be great if you could edit together a minute worth of clips using the 3 lenses, just to get kind of a feel for the focal ranges and bokeh.

    Anyone else using these 3?

All of these lenses are in our kit and have become invaluable... as variable primes - not actual zooms. We have found that they all lose a degree of focus as we move through the length of the lens - so no "getting deep focus" - get focus at the mm you are working at only. Hope this helps.

Brandon, I'll be taking these on a shoot next week. I'll see if I can put something together.

Does the Nikon mount that Red One built lock the lens in solid or is there some movement. I have seen one unit and after the lens locks in it can still move a little. So if you tried to put focus the len could turn a little and that not good. Anyone seen this problem or did I just see one bad unit.

I lose focus on the zooms, but it isn't the mount - it's the lens.

I have all three and just did tests between them and at every focal length. I would describe them not as zooms but as variable primes.

The glass is clean, it holds the speed through the range on each zoom, and maybe most importantly inter-cuts seamlessly.

The 17-35 28-70 and the 80-200 all look the same. There is no color cast or difference between the lenses.

Mr. Woods. The mount can seem a bit loose, but there is no light leak and you should consider extra support the 80-200 zoom. I'd say that any PL mount feels more "secure" than a Nikon mount for sure.

I am looking to get all of these lenses outfitted with press fit Delrin gears and hard stops for FF, but its not easy to find qualified personnel (who aren't really busy) to do this.

RP lens company offers a nice set of Nikon primes and I was hoping to get them to trick out my zooms.
