Once we have some Red lenses would it be possible with a firmware upgrade to implement something so the Cooke /i info from the lens would be displayed on the lcd in the form of some sort of focus graph. It would show minimum focus to infinity and where the current focus point is as well as the corresponding depth of field. This would be displayed next to the image with the focus assist as well.

Then anyone designing lens motors with remote control could include a mounting point for the lcd arm for the focus puller.
Maybe something like this is already in the works.

I have also heard about people wanting to design some sort of tranmitter to put on actors or whatever your subject might be to tell you the distance from the sensor plane to the subject. Having this send wireless info to the camera via sd wifi expansion to show up on the focus graph would be fantastic. Allowing for multiple transmitters all in different colors to be displayed on the graph would also be great.

    Thoughts?

The focus idea has been bounced around quite a bit.. We know of some sort of "focus assist" on RED, but they will not discuss it until NAB

Yeah I know the focus assist has been discussed a lot but I'm pretty sure it will be lens independent. But what I was talking about would be a different focus feature.
