Does Red say anywhere how many cycles the batts are good for? I would imagine at 5-600 would be the absolute outside limit.

They are Lithium Ion, so 350 cycles is about all you can expect.

Are they warm when you place them on the charger? If so, they may need to cool so the thermal protection doesn't kick in.

I've used Sony, which are a lot like the IDX. They power the camera fine, but the camera can't read the status. When they die unexpectedly, all sorts of nasty software stuff happens. I bought a couple Reds for this reason.

I carry IDX for just back ups also, I know that no status, it's danger!
I did use few times IDX and was okay, I have only 2 red bricks, and I have ton's of IDX, oh well. I should get couple more red bricks like you.
