What is the quality like on the Contax? Are we talking ARRI Zeiss or lesser?

BTW who does lens rehousing? I want that guys phone number and email address...it's just stupid that we all have to run around with fantastic Nikon Glass and the not so great housings on still camera lenses!

Lets get a group order of Nikon rehoused CINE lenses!

Did a little internet research and came up with this.

"Some years ago Zeiss licensed Kyrocera of Japan to use the name Zeiss on some lenses made for the Contax brand of cameras. Life was good.
Contax went out of business in 2005, ending the need for these lenses. As soon as the agreement expired in 2006, Zeiss looked for something to do with the Japanese manufacturing capacity.
Zeiss decided to put these former Contax mount lenses in Nikon mounts instead, and that's how we get these ZF lenses. These are new lenses made in Nikon mount."

Don't know if thats true, but it's interesting.

Also, the lenses in the ebay ad say Cineovision on them. Apparently they made anamorphic lenses in Japan. From the Power Brokers web site :

    Cineovision 2.35 (Japanese) Anamorphic prime lenses. No longer manufactured. PL mount. Excellent quality. In the last 10 years, I have seen one set sold used. The buyer bought them for the glass and had the mechanic's and barreling reworked. The new prices are... 24mm T 1.4, $ 32,000. 32mm T 1.4, $ 25,000. 40mm T 1.4, $ 25,000. 50mm T 1.4, $ 25,000. 100mm T 2.6, $ 25,000.

If anybody knows anything about this company (Cineovision, not Ken Rich), I'd be interested.

    Cheers,

    Nick

If you need them for a job they may be worth that much but a factory standard speed set will have better resale and more consistent lens speeds.
