Got the camera back from repairs yesterday.. the fan is not working, ive tried all the fan settings, and re-installed build 15 and 13... fan is completely dead! I am on set right now! i need help desperately!
redsupport not open yet... Im on european time..
any suggestions are much appretiated!!

I'm sure it's past the timeframe in which you needed help, but make sure you didn't run screws in the side of the camera at the bottom that were too long.Originally Posted by Kjetil Haugen

Hi..
IN Deserately needs..Open the camera. Check if the fans are getting power. If not.. use another power supply..In other words improvise..Or find the intake and supply with air from another source..

While I have no experience as yet, I would suggest installing earlier builds, running the camera with nothing attached, and then running it with things attached, holding down the power button for 10 seconds etc......it seems as though sometimes the craziest combination has done the trick for people.
As a last resort, and it's risky, run the camera with ice packs on it.....although
as i recall there is a thermal overload protection switch that'll shut the camera off if it gets too hot....hope my thoughts help in some way.
Don't know if you've spoken with Gunleik as of yet, maybe he has his red kicking around today??? Espa is only an hour's drive from Oslo if I'm not mistaken....

i was trying to avoid opening up the camera, but underwaterdop's comment triggered another idea. Maybe find a small high powered fan, to circulate cool air through the bottom? Maybe in conjunction with a piece of cardboard to deflect that incoming cool air into the camera from the bottom? Don't know if this would help at all....or if it's even clear what i visualize...

NO, NO, NO.....
Not unless the job is paying you enough to justify invalidating your warranty.
Open the camera and you loose you warranty, it has been stated in a number of posts.
Find a rental house with another one and rent it.
Or depending on the temperature you could also put ice in freezer bag, wrap that in a towel and then put that on the camera. Shut the camera down when the temperature gauge tells you it is too hot.

He is right...No warrenty..that life..But putting ice on will make condency in the camera. And then we can talk about fucking the camera up. Find a rental house is the best idea. I dont know about Norway but in Denmark you can easy find a RED. I know www.ebh.cc have 2. They can get one to you fast.
And the thing about open the camera ...he is right bad idea...just something i do...cant help it..
