  1. #1 Upgrade to Build 16 or wait?
I have a shoot coming up in a week. Should I upgrade to B 16 or hold off since I assume it will still be in beta a week from now? Or should I just wait and see?
That's right. My avatar was shot using the Red.

If I were you (I am not)... I would make the leap to build 16 as quickly as possible to make sure I was comfortable with the changes before a big shoot. You won't ever want to go back. The only question is whether or not you will have enough time to get used to how it all works.

Conventional wisdom would be to wait until AFTER your shoot. Don't want any nasty surprises when you're under the gun.
If it's not difficult, why do it?

Not all the post tools are updated from what I understand and in particular anyone who is only running PC would not be advised to load up B16 until the new Redcine becomes available.

I don't know if this has been answered yet or not, but can you revert back to 15 after installing 16?

Jim, I can def. understand where your coming from, we are all EXSTATIC! to get B16, but to quote you earlier this morning:

    * New .R3D file format - requires the use of new versions of QuickTime Component, RED ALERT and REDCINE (not currently available)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but is the new R3D format is unsupported by the preceeding software essentially until the new versions of QT, RedAlert, and RedCine are released?
Don't get me wrong, regardless I will start to stockpile footage

As far as I know only RedCine is yet to be upgraded in order to support B16. The other programs have already been updated to support B16 in the newest versions.
