Probably why they are currently on sale. Next month: 'Version 2.0 with amazing balls technology that uses a slot-hinge design to allow folding flat!!!" Like that could not be foreseen ;-)

So I ordered one of these but now the rare earth magnets are freaking me out. Are these magnets going to cause any kind of damage to the camera? I normally leave my LCD screwed onto the body in transport and storage, so they would potentially always be close to the camera. Can anyone who’s had this for a while provide some input? Am I being silly?

No, I never had any issues.
