    Hi All,

I recently updated RedCineX for the first time in a while.

I noticed in the export page Avid DNxHD 36 8 BIT format has gone and been replaced with DNxHD SQ or HQ or LB or HQX.

I have always transcoded to 36 8bit and wondered if anyone knew what these new formats meant and which one I should use.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi guys,

As James said the new version of RedCine X has done away with

    DNxHD 36 8-bit

    and now has the following

    DNxHD HQ
    DNxHD SQ
    DNxHD LB

Does one of these correspond to DNxHD 36 8-Bit?

The list you've posted Marc is for DNxHR (4K and UHD) not HD.

    Thanks

    Avid's chart is available here.
    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...Specifications

They list the data rates in MegaBytes/Sec instead of MegaBits/Sec. If you multiply by 8 you will see numbers close to what you are used to.

The DNxHR LB is supposed to be similar to DNxHD 36 8-bit.

Thanks for the update, John -- I'll add that to my files. It does look like DNxHR LB is pretty much the new "DNxHD 36."

Note that only HQX and 444 have 12-bit color. The files aren't that big (assuming you've got enough storage), and I could see finishing an entire project in this format provided you had to deliver it quickly, like for a reality show or a daily news show.
