So, I am trying to use a 720p Sony Bravia moniter which has HDMI input and RGB input. The model number is KDL-20S4000, SN-1602223. I am having no luck at all getting any signal to the monitor. I am assuming, since the camera has a constant live feed through the HDMI, that it is a monitor issue. Also, I am on a local feature in Kazakhstan, and the monitor was bought locally, maybe that would be the issue. Do monitors have certain regions and devices they work with, like DVD's? I seems to be an American version because all the stickers and menus are defaultly in English. We have about a 35 ft. HDMI cable, does anyone foresee the length of the cable being a reason for no signal? I have tried going straight from HDMI out to HDMI in, no signal. I have tried going from HDMI out to an HDMI-DVI adpapter to a DVI-RGB adapter into the RGB input on the monitor, no signal. I am almost at a loss, I guess I just need to try another monitor. I don't see why HDMI to HDMI won't simply work. Does anyone have any suggestions or answers? Also, is there a list somewhere of consumer monitors tested, used and known to work through HDMI on the RED?

    Thanks for anything,

    Tanner

The HDMI output on the camera is not a standard HD 720p signal, it outputs 1280x848 or something instead of 1280x720, this is good for Computer Monitors and you can see the menue on the monitor, but you´re not able to connect directly to HDMI "Consumer" monitors which expects 720p or 1080i.
Wirkaround is to use a HD SDI to DVI/HDMI Converter like Blackmagic HD Link .

Using build 14 I was told to set the output to EVF/PVW rather than HDMI - and I got a 720p output on my 40" LCD Bravia TV.

    you could try that.

Wonder if the TVlogic 24" would accept this then as it has sdi hdmi and dvi in.

"trying to use a 720p Sony Bravia moniter "

    what build are you using ? 14, 15 ,16 ?

    35ft should be no problem ...build 15 works very good with HDMI ( haven't used 16 ) .... 13,14 are hit & miss ...

Ok, I have worked a solution for myself. (I am on build 15 by the way). I believe, like Manuel said, that the problem was it being an HDTV and not a computer monitor. We replaced the Bravia with a Samsung syncmaster going from HDMI out to DVI in. This works great, looks great and have full menu on the monitor. Thanks for everyones help. I'm not sure what I would do without this websites over here in Kazakhstan.

    Best Wishes,

    Tanner, over and out.

Yes the HDMI output CAN be 1280 x 848, but that is when its in the MENUS(DVI) setting. When it is in the VID 720p setting the output is a standard 1280 x 720p signal at 50.00 or 59.94 Hz as defined in your HD-SDI setting. Try that... also Sony T.V's can be a bit picky, I have heard some say that the enabling of audio via HDMI, which occurred in Build 16 helps that Sony issue.

I personally tend to run HDMI to a computer monitor, as I do like the full menu selection, but both modes work....
