HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY! Hope everyone is wearing RED ;)

I wanted to share a short film that I shot w/ director Elena Parasco for her "all-girls gender-fluid basketball team" here in NYC. We made a video last summer about the team, and then after the Women's March in January, we were inspired to shoot another story that builds-off that same visual style but shows more of how sport is creating empowerment and support amongst this creative group of women.

We shot over two consecutive days in February, on RED EPIC DRAGON. 5K & 6K capture to 1.8" SSDs on Leica R primes and Canon 30-105mm Cine Zoom. Graded on BaseLight.
It was incredibly inspiring to capture these girls expresses themselves and propping each other up through art and sport (two of my favorite things).
Check out the finished film below.

Thanks Bob! Mikey is truly an artist before colorist and collaborating with him is always a pleasure. He's always willing to push the grade, or pull-back to closer to what's in-camera, if it serves the tone best. The "wintry" looks he set for this film really felt natural but moody in all the right ways.

As an update, the film released on NIKE.nyc homepage. Here's a link to the post on NIKE:

I really enjoyed this spot - just as a spot. The tone captures the content so well. The overlapping audio, the light, the frames and the grade are really nice too. Great stuff!
