  1. #1 Monitoring Over BNC-RCA
Does anyone have any information on the potential for monitoring via BNC out and then using a BNC-to-RCA adapter to go into the input of a standard consumer television?

We've been trying it to no avail and I'm trying to troubleshoot if it's the cabling, the input adapter, or the camera settings...I don't think it's the camera settings but I want to try and rid every potential snag.

is your TV "HDV ready" or real HDV ?
if not, the signal out of RED cannot, today, be readable on a standard def tv without a transformation.

It’s not the connectors (BNC to RCA) it’s the fact that the Red signal output is 720 X 1280 SDI and the TV's a standard DEF is 480 X 525 NTSC. SDI is a digital signal and NTSC is analog. You can get adapters from AJA.com or Blackmagic_Design.com.

You will need a signal converter that takes the HD-SDI output from preview and sends out RGB Component or composite. Your standard white bread TV will need the composite signal via RCA cable. Both AJA and Blackmagic make such converters- about the size of a deck of cards, with various power options, including the tap off the RED brick holder. They're in the $800 nabe.
