I think it may also depend on what aspect ratio you choose and pixel resolution. Like for example, the 6k Dragon uses a 1.94:1 aspect for full frame at 19.4 megapixels and derives all of its other frame sizes from that. The Dragon 8k VV uses a 1.90:1 aspect for full frame at 35.4 megapixels and derives all of its other frame sizes from that. I think as long you find a feasible square pixel ratio for Dragon or Helium it should be good, But I'm probably wrong as well, it wouldn't be the first time.

The new top plate is essential. So limiting with what can be hung from the camera. Wooden and their cage seems to be the only viable solution.

Having recently upgraded from Epic-M to Epic-W I've been surprised by the number of issues still remaining, and for us we're apparently some of the lucky ones to discover issues nobody else has seen before. Support suggested we upgrade firmware for one of the issues but we're in the middle of a feature so there is absolutely no way we feel comfortable doing that now. We went with what shipped from the factory as firmware early last week...pity they did not update out of Red HQ knowing such issues. I applaud Jarred & co's innovation (as I always have) but we really need to be sure existing tech is bullet proof on the ground. Nothing but troubles and reboots and ultimately bad-mouthing Red ware from my camera department.

But I do look for an announcement for an upgrade path to VV for Epic-W as I'm sure others are...

Uh, oh. Looks like the Storm Trooper models are going to soak up all the new batch of vV sensors. And these will probably be the last "good batch" of sensors for the next 6 months or so.

Forgive my defeated attitude... 2+ years of waiting plus being shunned will do that to you.

Ultra Brite Lust.

I'm on board with RED's evolved approach to when they announce products. That said, like others, I'm leery of buying a 7" Pro Touch and then waking up to the release of the Ultra-Brite the next day. It would be great to get some kind of forecast - trying to have it ready by NAB in April, CineGear in June, should be in the store by noon today, whatever.

We understand it's just a forecast, include whatever disclaimers you feel are appropriate. That said, it's a $3K investment - so a certain amount of due diligence is common sense.

Since we're on the subject, I'd love to see RED offer 3 LCD options:

1) Killer Ultra Brite, high rez, HDR, mil. spec. 7" or bigger, with awesome sauce at around $2,500 (yes, $3,500 seems more likely)
2) Solid 7" touch with cable less pogo and 14 pin port built into the hinge - under $2,000 would be great... (it's a wish list, gotta try ;-)
3) Low cost 4-5" touch for menus/settings with adequate image quality for framing/focus (judge color and exposure somewhere else) - under $1,000
