Hi is a good option to have a hp dream color for field monitoring?

the hdmi out will be 10 bits?

how does the red fit in 1600x1200 with the 1280x720 out?

What do youguys think comparing to a panasonic bhtl1700?

I tried hooking up an R1 with build 16 to one of our Dreamcolors: it froze the R1 solid (as do the Panasonic and Samsung HDMI monitors we've tred; the only one we've had partial success with was a Sony Bravia). I haven't tried b.17 yet; not sure if it improves HDMI compatibility at all.

I haven't yet tried converting HDMI to DHI, but be aware that the HP supports 48 Hz refresh rates and above; I'm not sure it'll deal with 1080p24 at all.

    I have a BT-LH1700W and it's a great 720p-native R1 monitor, though it doesn't have pixel-for-pixel for closely inspecting 1080p.

The HP isn't especially robust in its construction so I'm not sure I'd use it on-set. One of the 24 inch JVCs might be worth looking at, though.

If you use a HDMI to DVI adapter, most monitors work...

Keep in mind that the monitor is not designed for field use and does not look great under imperfect viewing conditions.

I plan on trying to make mine work for field monitoring. There is an LCD Hood Kit and a Quick Release VESA Mount so you can easily put it on a monitor stand. I also have a 50ft. DVI cable but still need to get an HDMI adapter before I can test it out.

Also, keep in mind that this monitor typically uses 42 watts and is 100-240 VAC. If you want to run it off batteries you will need an inverter.

Id be interested to know how you get on, please let us know.

if your considering other monitors then its useful to ensure it has the ability to display 1280 x 848 as the full EVF/LCD status information display is possible. 1280 x 720 wont do it at present.
