I am very curious what this will be. Hope to hear something soon, as I have funds about to be diverted and distributed in many ways across the digital spectrum...and if this is something that is in the price range, I may go for it.

Guess we will see in the next couple of weeks, as was mentioned...pocket camera...hmm, interesting indeed.

    Peace

The Richter Envelope Minimum Possible camera was a Super 16 movie camera invented and manufactured by Kenneth Richter. He also produced a widely used field collimator. Richter loved hiking and filming and found no 8mm or Super8 camera was suitable for his professional requirements. The 16mm Bolexes and Beaulieus of this era were just to bulky and heavy to lug around in a backpack, so he went and build his own camera: a tiny drive mechanism, rock steady (Aaton) with interchangeable 100ft magazines which had to be pre-loaded (similar to Kodak´s 50ft magazines) by the user. While he was at it, he gave it a Super16 film gate and crystal-controlled camera speed at 24fps - this was in the seventies, mind you. To keep everything tiny, he used C-mount lenses with Bell& Howell viewfinder lenses on a side-mounted non-reflex finder, similar to Ikonoscop´s A-Cam today. The Richter camera was a certain sucess as a travellers´ stealth-cam and a 400ft (double chamber) mag was also available. Richter received an Academy Award and a John Grierson award from SMPTE. Unfortunately the man has died rather early, or so I read, else he would have enjoyed RED tremendously.
ps: the Richter camera had the shape of a large hand and was about 2" wide.

I am using now CANON HV10 as pocket HDV camera. It is great camera but RED could jump it over few generations. For one it is not 1080p! It would be even better to have 2K camera in the pocket!

A Head mounted cam. This would definately take the extreme sports broadcast + filmmaking field to a whole new level. Every skydiver, Motocross rider, F1 driver, would be broadcasting 4K from their noggin.

I would like it to resemble and have the feel of my trusty old Leica Super 8 camera. I would like it to accept and deal with only Leica M lenses. Lastly I would like it to be able to double as a projector; somehow be able to show an image though the lens, when that mode is selected. That's All.

What I think it is is like the image on his link would be that of a teathered camera, maybe even coming back to a RED. Instead of an EVF extension--think of an extension between the sensor and the camera. Giving you a camera you could drop into a corner, on a dashboard, put on the end of a crane, etc.

"Red Eye" would be the name I would give such a device, 4K, Red one Required, a very useful professional Red Accessory.

What people are clamoring over would be a "Little Red". A "for the masses" camcorder that would have Red Quality and Red Workflow for lower budget work.

What I would expect would be a camera that ONLY works in Red Code Raw 2K or 1080 RGB with a variety of frame rates. Sorry, but I would expect it to be a smaller sensor as the magic is Red Code Raw and why have the additional expense of a larger sensor if you must crop it to get the Raw benefits anyway?

A comperable camera in cost and size would be the Canon HD's.

From Jim's comments, it doesn't sound like this is what's in store. That may be a next year thing. An extension camera as hinted by Axel would seem more likely as it is just another accessory and doesn't require a completely parallel effort for camera software, interfaces, etc.

A friend of mine moderated a live television broadcast about a couple of climbers doing the Eiger north face. Thank god he had lots of cameras in place and on helicopters, because the (live broadcasting!) helmet cameras induced mass neusea.

Since we're talking about the future anyway, I guess widely implemented VOD and camera choices will satisfy one's likes and dislikes.
