With that said, I purchased my RED Scarlet-W barely a year ago, throwing $25k into a system which is now impossible to market (or sell) due to this change. In order to keep the camera attractive to clients, I now need to spend anywhere from $5k-$12,500 to upgrade it (not clear on what the actual cost is). Honestly, I'm feeling a burned by RED. I've followed RED since before the Epic was released, even attended the REDUser showings of the DSMC 1 bodies right after they bought Renmar. The modularity theory is great, it creates more customizability and REDuces waste... but I'm starting to feel like I wasted my hard earned cash on this system, and am now in a situation where I have to spend more money on this camera, which I love, but now has become a burden.
I’m actually really excited to be turning my Epic W into a camera that can take full advantage of the Helium sensor, but also make future upgrades for less than $5K. It’s been said time and time again, but I’ll say it again. You won’t get that with other manufacturers. I just bought 2 C300 MKII Packages, now if they come out with a MkIII or a C400 next week, are they going to let me upgrade my just over a month old camera down the line? No the value will just drastically decrease and the new model will be drastically more expensive (EOS Cinema are way more expensive than they should be when they first come out.) With RED I’m getting a upgrade that I wanted a few months after I got the camera that would have cost me at least $20K, now for $5K. That’s a win in my books, my Epic W has more than paid for itself since 2016.

You have to put a battery or power on the camera for a night and it will work and keep memory.

Yeah, I got that, but I was responding to someone asking if the issue was inherent on the Unified bodies. It is... Currently on hour 6 of 35 to make the clock work...
