One might expect the same thing here.
If I win the lottery I am going to buy the Panavision cameras used in Back to the Future.
Good production values may not be noticed. Bad production values will be.

Kills me all the time. I mean there's somewhere around 5X more DXLs out there than Alexa 65s. They aren't building a house with them.
So 5 times the amount of DXLs vs Alexa65. According to Michael Cioni there were 20 features shot on the DXL in 2017. There were 17 shot on the Alexa65 during the same time period according to Arri's site. That sounds like a lot of DXLs just sitting around on shelves!

One of those features had 5 DXLs. Can't speak for the other features except for the Pete Berg film shot last year. Although, there might be a little exaggeration for how many DXLs are out there.

Well Pana sure knows how to keep that quiet and ARRI knows how to scream it around that the Alexa65's (and other Alexa's) are used in (high-end) features.

3D films have many cameras though in many cases and that can impact availability significantly id imagine. I think the modular system permits subleased units at panavision to be added quickly when dxl gigs arrive vs custom bodies and that is an asset. I have a red id totally keep at panavision constantly if it meant even a few days a year I can shoot with that color science.. hell I'd buy another red even just to do that

What I would love to buy is the DXL viewfinder. It is awesome.... It would cost more than a Monstro body but damn is it sweet
