  1. #1 Red Cradle Screws
Does anyone know what size and type the screws on the Red Cradle are? I mean the little ones that hold the rails in place? My camera came back from a recent shoot with one missing so I I've decided to buy a set as backup, but it seems silly to have to buy them and have them sent from Red if it's at all possible to pick them up in the UK.

Followed by a criticism from the DP "Well, they shouldn't be able to unscrew all the way anyway. Stupid design" (he blamed the Focus Puller for losing it BTW).

I tried to buy one from RED a few months ago but they said they aren't available. I still had the "old matte" finish cradle, so I sent it in for replacement.

Yeah, I just had a Hard Drive and Red Handle back in for repair and had asked if I could buy a set of screws for the cradle. The Drive and Handle were returned but no answer on the screws. Rather than chase it up I though I'd try and find out where else I could get them. :red_bandana:

I picked up a replacement set from Red and the new screws are much better as they have a larger back end making them easier to find if they fall out. I think it was around $20, which might be pricey but worth it once you count your time to find the screws.

I got a couple from the hardware store in stainless. 2mm Allen I believe.
    Not pretty but functional.

I need to pick some of these up at my local hardware store.

Is it indeed 2mm Allen screws like Harry said ?

Take one out, or take the cradle down to the hardware store and find a screw that fits. They do that kind of thing all the time. The Ace hardware store in the center of Gorham, Maine has provided screws to replace several kinds of Red screws -- stainless steel, metric, english. If they have them, surely hardware stores in bigger places should have them.
