  1. #1 red and mulitcam switching
Will red work with live mulitcam switching? Will it be able to send info back and receive info and controls (ie iris, gain, ccu, power, etc) from a mobile truck or switching room?

From what I have read about Red, hehe, you can but red in a multicam environ, through the hd sdi port which will give you 720p HD. there is no ccu
for red but there is genlock and TC in/out

Note that there is 1080p Hd-sdi output with dual link capability. The 720p Hd-sdi is for monitoring purposes.

There is no need for most of the ccu controls, as the cameras should be pretty much colormatched. You can load a LUT from Redcine if you want to add an in camera look.

The things you would need to rig yourself is a tally, intercom and iris control.

Is there a significant latency in HD-SDI?

The is no practical latency in HD-SDI (unless you introduce a TBC buffer on the input), as it's an uncompressed link. There might be a small latency introduced in the 4k to 1080p downconvertion, but only RED would know that.
