Can anyone confirm if the Teradek / RTMotion Thumbwheel Controllers require a receiver, or lens motor, to work with EF lenses on a DSMC2 body? Or if they operate in the same way that the Teradek Smart Knob does?

Can't get a response from Teradek.

Yes, you will need a receiver (connected to the CRTL input on the expander module) for the thumbwheel controller to work with EF lenses on a DSMC2 body.

There is no intelligence built into the thumbwheel. You will need a receiver.

    Thanks, guys.

And is a lens motor required when using EF lenses?

Compatible lenses from Nikon or Canon will work without a lens motor.

    First:
    Thiis is a great solution.

    Remember:
    • This only works with electronic lenses (the solution works with the motors inside the lenses)
    • Not all lenses are equal. If you want to test how your lenses will work with this, buy FoolControl and test your lenses with that first
Most high-end Canon-branded lenses will work just fine, but not all
    • For other brands (and even for high-end Canon-branded lenses) test-test-test. The solution is not entirely generic.

    Given all this:
    This is really a gem!

Huge thanks for the input, guys. Definitely helping with my confusion on this.

Does anyone know if the DSMC2 Outrigger Handle can be used with the Latitude and Sidekick mounted on the side?

This is important for us, for one man operation, as the plan would be to use use the Teradek Thumbwheel attached to the top of the Outrigger Handle.

I use mine with the dual outrigger handle just fine.

The Dual Outrigger Handles look like they're situated quite a bit further from the camera body than the DSMC2 Outrigger Handle.

    Or is this an illusion?

    Also, another thing I'm slightly confused about;

What cables are required for the Latitude Sidekick and Thumbwheel Controller to work on a DSMC2?
