  1. #1 New Blackmagic RAW format.
So Blackmagic is releasing their own RAW format for their cameras. It's interesting because it offers higher compression ratios for the first time on BM cameras. Up to 12:1.

Wonder how it compares to REDCODE RAW.

Apparently, they are doing partial demosaic in camera, which means it is very easy to debayer. He was demoing 4k BRAW image on MacBook without any extra GPU acceleration. It looked really fast. He actually said there is no need for eGPU acceleration for debayering those 4k BRAW images. He also mentioned, that BRAW images are easy to consolidate for post work. And finally, unlike encrypted Red RAW, BRAW is cross platform, open and license free. They are fully documenting free SDK as well.
There are some BRAW files available for download on the announcement page. Resolve 15.1 already supports it.

John BRAWley must be really happy with this new "f*ck you ProResRAW" codec.

I just wait for a couple of independent reviews before updating the camera's

This weekend we plan to switch from DR14.3 to DR15.1

Yeah gonna install this update this weekend. Awesome news. They also improved the noise and color of the Ursa mini pro. So the Ursa Mini Pro is going be even a greater beast.

This will only happen if RED goes out of business which I strongly doubt will happen anytime soon, to say the least.

It's a welcome addition to the compressed Raw family.

I wonder what Graeme has to say about this codec.
