    Hello all,

I just read Canon is planing a new 24mm 1.2 and 85mm 1.2 .These, in addition to the already announced 28-70mm 2.0 zoom and 50mm 1.2 are starting to look very interesting . Does anyone know if Red is planning on making a mount for the canon R ?
    Or, is it possible?

    Thanks,
    Tim

The front face of the camera is too far from the sensor plane to make that work. You would have to likely wait until DSMC3 bodies if anything.

Stealth Weapon-MG and EPIC-W with some vintage Contax-Zeiss and Leica-R goodness and some Canon and Nikon modern glass just for good measure.

Oh, ok. What about using them with the Canon adaptor ? You would get internal ND and would it still be 1.2 through the red mount? Or would the mount choke it down? Thanks,

The problem is new RF lenses work only for the new EOS R system because the back of the lenses are designed to sit as close as possible to a physical sensor. If you open up a red camera you will see the sensor on a red is way far back from where you need the back of a RF lens to sit. That canon adaptor is only for using EF lenses on that new camera because old EF lenses are designed that they need to sit much further from the sensor plane which is why they work on a RED. Since old EF lenses mated to new EOS R body has room for that gap they make it possible to actually fit in an ND when used on this new EOS R body. Using an RF lens on a RED would require a redesign of the RED body. Something I am sure is possible, something which even in a small run would have been nice. Even just to rehouse existing camera owners guts in a system to move the sensor almost flush to camera body front. To allow for Emount glass etc.
