Does anyone have a project that was shot on K35 lenses? My client would like to see an example of a short film shot on K35 lenses. I tried showing him some of the big budget music videos and feature films but he'd like to see something done on small scale budget.

    Thanks,
    Brian

I shot this short film in march 2013 using my set of Canon K35's, a Red One MX and Red Epic (MX), both shooting 4K. Black & White and some light Double Fog filters.

Honestly, just look at American Hustle

Shot on K35's and Standard Primes.

I know it's a big budget movie, but a number of the shots (especially in the Museum) are pretty run and gun gritty. We're talking ambient lighting and an LED china ball as the primary talent light.

SUNDANCE 2018 FILMS that used Canon K35 lenses

    Dir: Josephine Decker
    Camera: ARRI Amira
    Lens: K35s

    Madeline's Madeline

Decker: “Our film is incredibly immersive and first-person. We needed an aesthetic that didn’t feel familiar. Ashley Connor (our DP) and I spent a long time going through the scenes, and she brought some of her secret techniques to our most internal sequences. Techniques no one really ever uses!”

    Dir: Jordana Spiro
    Camera: Arri Alexa mini
    Lens: K35 lenses

    “Night Comes On”

Spiro: “Mostly we used an easy rig in combination with a cinesaddle bag. With limited means, we needed to work quickly and be on the move constantly, so we found ourselves going back to this pairing more than even originally anticipated. It allowed us to stay close to our character in a very subjective way, while still preserving some delicateness to our mostly handheld language.”

    “The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 1

Format: Arri UHD, Prores 4.4.4 (same as season 1)
    Camera: ARRI Alexa Mini
    Lens: Canon K35

Colin Watkinson: We try for a painterly look on “Handmaid’s Tale,” the mixture of the Alexa capture on Canon K35’s with the LUT we created works well for us. Color reproduction is so important to us, the Alexa suits our style beautifully. The physical versatility of the Mini, having multiple types of builds to suit how we are shooting is the perfect camera for our show. The wide aperture of the Canons help us achieve the shallow focus that we use to express the introspective POV style of the show.
